Mural: Protected Birds

Mural “Protected Birds of the Reserve”

The motivation behind this mural is the fact that most of the Tagus International Biosphere Reserve is also a Special Protection Area under the EU Birds Directive (known as ZEPA in Spanish). The mural shows a pair of black storks, a Bonelli’s eagle, a partridge, a black wheatear and a goldfinch.

All of these birds, with the exception of the goldfinch, are protected in the reserve and it is common to see them, especially on the banks and crags of the Tagus, and also on the Salor river.
